New
Gallery Signal Move to the Arts
A
Multimedia avantgarde art gallery has just opened
on the site of a former strip joint in the Combat
Zone - a move the founders say will help reclaim the
red-light
district for Hub artists.
Situated
at 25 Lagrange St. in the former home of the Goodtime
Charlie's nude dancing club, the Exploit Gallery opened
quietly two weeks ago, with a photography and metal-sculpture
exhibit of works by four local artists, including
founders Richard Aliberti and Shiri Broza.
"We
want to use this space as a foundation for some powerful
art, not this quiche stuff they have on Newbury Street,"
Aliberti said. In the next several weeks, the multimedia
showcase will be the host for performance artists,
filmmakers and installation artists.
