Albert
A. Natale's gift to St. Leonard's Church
Life-size Bronze Relief of Saint Leonard Dedication
Boston,
Massachusetts
The
striking bronze has been permanently installed in
the archway of the Prince Street side of the church.
Inscribed under the inspiring bronze relief of Saint
Leonard: “Through his preaching, the stations of the
cross became a popular devotion now found in nearly
every Catholic church.” This is followed by, “In the
honor of the Natale family, Zaccria and Virginia ‘Moschella’
Natale, Helen, Adeline, Lillian, Vincent, Peter, Alfred,
Henry, Alice, Mary, Zachary, Ernest, & Albert. Gift
of Albert Natale.”

The
life-size bronze relief of St. Leonard recently installed
at St. Leonard’s Church, Boston’s North End, was created
by the internationally noted sculptor, Richard Aliberti.
The creative Aliberti is also noted for his arresting
plaster wall hangings, functional furniture, and steel
sculptures. His work is in the private collection
of individuals in France, Israel, Italy and the United
States. What’s more, many of his sculptures have been
exhibited in galleries and museums. In recent years,
Richard Aliberti established a gallery at 165 Salem
Street, in the North End. The Aliberti Gallery serves
as a showcase for his works – jewelry, photography,
functional art and bronze and aluminum sculptures.
A native of the Boston area, Aliberti attended the
School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Mass College
of Art.
